METRO RTA’s Board of Trustees announced the appointment of Richard M. Enty as METRO’s Executive Director at its monthly meeting on July 31.

Enty joined METRO in 2011 as its Director of Planning.  Enty was named the Interim Executive Director at the June Board Meeting.  Prior to coming to METRO he worked as a consultant for Lorain County Transit and served on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad Board of Trustees for over 16 years. Enty’s transit career began in 1977 at Greater Cleveland RTA. “His breadth of experience and knowledge of transportation issues are what garnered him the appointment,” stated Saundra M. Foster, Board of Trustees President. “His sole interest is to continue to grow METRO and make it the best transit system around.”

Enty is honored to further METRO’s mission. “I do not take this appointment lightly. I have enormous respect for those who preceded me.  I plan to carry forth the current plans and look forward to expanding services, listening to the needs of our community and working with METRO’s dedicated Board and staff. We will set forth on a path of innovation, guided by our Transit Master Plan and Rail Freight Plan, to take METRO to the next level. I welcome this new challenge to help drive the Authority forward,” stated Enty upon his appointment.

METRO’s Board of Trustees started the search for METRO’s long-time Executive Director Robert K. Pfaff’s replacement in March after Pfaff announced he would be retiring at the end of 2012.  Pfaff passed away July 2nd after a lengthy battle with cancer.
