University of Akron Student, Faculty, & Staff Ride Free!
Students, faculty, and staff of The University of Akron can ride METRO Direct fixed-routes for FREE* by simply swiping their Zip Card in the farebox.

Need to transfer from a METRO bus to GCRTA, SARTA, WRTA , MCPT or PARTA? Ask your operator for a transfer slip and bring it with you on your next bus.
*The Zip Card can be used on METRO's x61 Northcoast Express routes to Cleveland to receive a $1 discount. The Zip Card is not valid on METRO SCAT/paratransit.
The Roo Express
The Roo Express is a METRO Direct route that serves the University of Akron campus and surrounding areas. This service provides University of Akron Students, Faculty, and Staff with an easy way around campus for FREE. Simply present your ZipCard to the operator when boarding to ride.
The Roo Express operates Monday-Friday on a 10-15 minute frequency.
School Year Hours: 7am-11pm
Summer Hours: 7am-7pm
