A Brief History
There’s a lot to know about METRO, but the most important thing to remember is we’re your bus company. METRO transports more than six million passengers annually to work, to school, to medical appointments and to some of the best places in town. Traveling today is worlds apart from what it was like in the mid-1800s. Instead of catching the Route #6 bus to Lakemore for a smooth journey, a day trip back then meant a wobbly ride in a mule-drawn cart. But, we all have to start somewhere! From the first public transit system of a few mule-drawn carts to a fleet of 188 passenger revenue vehicles, METRO RTA has a rich and detailed history in Summit County. Get the full history of METRO
