On September 30th, come to the new Maintenance & Operations Facility for open interviews to become one of METRO RTA's newest bus operators! You'll have the opportunity to test drive an actual line service bus and learn how to secure a mobility device to try your hand at your potential, future career. 

Once you check-in, your interview will be performed soon after. We strongly recommend that you apply online ahead of time. However, computers will be available to fill out the application on site.

No experience or prior CDL certification is necessary, METRO will train you!

Operator Job Duty Examples:

• Operate all types of METRO RTA vehicles, as assigned.
• Monitor passenger counts when requested to do so by supervision.
• Provide optimum customer service while transporting passengers timely, safely, and efficiently.
• Collect all applicable fare (money, tickets, passes, transfers) from passengers.
• Must complete pre-trip inspections to ensure safe condition of coach.
• Assist passengers with schedule information when applicable.
• Must complete incident/accident reports as the need arises.
• May assist with route training of bus operators.

Typical Operator Job Requirements:

• Must have a valid Ohio's Driver's License. (You cannot have more than 2 points on your license. To check how many points are on your license, contact the Ohio BMV or log-in to their online portal).
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Customer service experience required.

Important:

Applicants who make it through the interview process...

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen in strict accordance to DOT standards.
• Must pass a DOT medical exam.
• Will be subject to an extensive background check (certain convictions are disqualifying).
• Will be expected to work flexible hours, including split shifts, weekends, evenings, and holidays. 
• The start date for this position is November 9, 2026.
